The recommendation is to not use Teams Live Events for customer presentations, unless absolutely necessary. If you choose to use Teams Live, see best practices and lessons learned (attached).
Reasons not to use Teams Live Events
- There is a 20 sec lag between material being presented and what attendees see. This can make Q&A difficult and confusing.
- Teams Live Events must be set up as “Public”. Otherwise, customers will not be able to attend the meeting. However, public events have anonymized attendees so you will not know who attended.
- The Producer interface is complicated, and it helps to have someone helping with that.
- Polling is not possible (or I couldn’t figure out how to do it).
Reasons to use Teams Live Events
- MS Teams Live provides captioning with language translation that appears to work well.
- Replay of recordings is very easy. The same link that attendees use to join the event can be used to replay a recording of the event.
- Replay of recordings includes captioning and language translation of the captioning.
