- JMP Genomics is for wide data: Many more columns than rows (thousands of columns/genes)
- JMP Genomics is for statistical analysis and visualization of Expression and Genotype data, not bioinformatic analysis or alignment of genetic sequences. Our sweet spot is to take aligned, summarized data for downstream statistical analysis.
- JMP Genomics is targeted towards Crops Sciences, Biomarker Discovery, Translational Medicine, Target Identification, Basic Research in Biology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry, and Companion Diagnostic Panel Discovery groups
- JMP Genomics runs on Windows OS only (but one can use VMWare, Parallels, or Remote Desktop/Citrix if a person has a Mac)
- JMP Genomics evaluations like JMP Pro Evaluations
- There are still a lot of people still using MS Excel for genomics research. And there are a lot of papers/publications, including this one, that talks about how genomics research that uses Excel is prone to errors.
- Lots of resources available - please make sure to use them!
