Is there a stand-alone function in JSL to recognize the data format of a column?
@martindemel
There isn't a function to rerun the Best Guess option. However, it would be a very simple matter that after you have gotten dealt with the Waste rows, to save the table as a .csv in the $TEMP folder, and then read it back in, which then JMP would reapply the Best Guess option.
Use the Get Format message
Names Default To Here( 1 ); dt = Open( "$SAMPLE_DATA/big class.jmp" ); xx = dt:height << get format;

I need to give more information to understand my question.
In case I read a csv file, JMP is able to guess data type.
However, my csv files contains several rows with "waste" until the data rows come.
I need this waste to generate appropriate column names of them. I don't want to skip these rows.
JMP doesn't recognize the "real" format of the column with this "waste" in the rows before data.
I want JMP to analyze column again and assign the data type by "Best Guess" afterwards.
Does the command " get format" do this job for my purpose?
I guess it gives me the actual data format.
This is a feature request now.
