Notes on Technical Engagement
Activity
- 13.02.2019 JMP Pro Remote Demo, Sunnyvale, CA – Peter Hersh and Scott Wise.
- Kien Wong master black belt was asked by his Manager, Liam Ferryanto, to evaluate JMP Pro compared to standard JMP
- Attendees – Kien Wong, Peter Hersh, Scott Wise and Dara Hammond.
- Summary of demo– Graph Builder and Introduction to Dashboards and Scripting presented by Pete Hersh – Kien has a specific project in mind where he has a small amount of runs and wants to build a better predictive model. He gave the example of a DSD as a starting point. Pete walked through running a DSD then doing stepwise regression in standard JMP. Kien said that is exactly what we do now. Then showed him how GenReg with Cross validation can be used instead to build a predictive model instead of a descriptive model. He understood the concept. Also showed off, Bootstrap forest and Neural Network.
- Customer screen share – Kien shared his screen for the last part of the demonstration. He worked through an anonymized data set that was a current project with 34 runs some OFAT and some an augmented design. We got very good models using Neural Networks but did not do as well with other techniques. Kien seemed satisfied with the demo and let us know he would follow up with the engineer he is working with to learn more about the device physics. Then he would let us know about any other questions that might come up.
- 28.02.2019 Help with DOE presentation to internal groups, Sunnyvale, CA – Bill Worley, Don McCormack, and Scott Wise.
- Sid Bhatia (Director, Systems Engineering) presented on why designed experiments were better that OFAT internally to the DDP Analytics and Statists User Group Pretty sure that DDP = Dielectric Deposition Products. Believe it is an internal periodic DDP Analytics meeting where Sid is trying to encourage better analytic usage…in this case, the use of DOE over OFAT practices.
- 03.04.2019 Help with Automation of model Building, Sunnyvale, CA – Peter Hersh.
- Kien Wong (Black Belt, SAE) He is tasked with streamlining DSD analysis for the Engineers. They are analyzing 200-300 responses from a DSD by launching Stepwise then fit model and the Engineers keep getting the analysis wrong. He is working with SAS education for a consulting services was quoted 100 hours of work to set up the add-in. Wants the Engineer to pick the responses and the factors then have the add-in make an RSM model run stepwise then run fit model behind the scenes.
- 11.04.2019 DOE and advanced Model Building Presentation, Sunnyvale, CA – Peter Hersh.
- Charles Chen and his group of ~20 engineers came to the JMP presentation. Walked through setting up a DoE and analysis using stepwise regression.
- Showed the group cross validation and how that leads to better predictive models
- Charles talked about the groups desire to get DOE certified and who might want JMP Pro.
