Zoom Settings for Customer JMP Day - Please use ZOOM Webinars, not ZOOM Meetings
June 25, 2020
- Schedule and Save. Reminder, that if you use alphabetic password, attendees can’t use it to call-in only. Use numbers if you think people may just call in. Suggestion: Use the event date (like 060920 for a June 9, 2020 event) to make it easy for you to remember.
Hosts and JMP/SAS Panelists can start the event.
- Invitation Tab – You can add JMP/SAS and non- JMP/SAS panelists. Decide if you want new Panelists to get invitation. You will get another opportunity to edit the list and send panelist(s) an invitation later after you save and return to the Invitation tab.
When you return, even if you DID NOT send the invitation to a panelist when you set up the session, you will see RESEND.
You can have a long list of Panelists, but also the host can promote registered attendees to Panelist on the day of the event.
- Email Settings Tab
- Q&A Tab
Best Practices:
- FOR PRESENTERS: When Presenting, Hide Video Panel.
- FOR PRESENTERS: Have only a few things open on your screen to make it easy to find and share what needs to be shared: JMP and PowerPoint.
- FOR HOST AND PANELISTS: Ignore the DISMISS option on Q&A Window. It can’t be disabled and there may be no reason to DISMISS a question. However, it is useful to dismiss the ones that have been answered orally. I think to do that you have to type in a response, like Answered in order to dismiss.
- FOR HOST AND PANELISTS: DON’T USE PRIVATE ANSWER. It gets confusing to other Panelists if some are private and others are broadcast to all.
Instructions During Session modified from SAS Education:
- Start the recording (Host and only if decided in advance)
- Stop the recording between sessions and restart with new session
- Unmute and start your video when presenting (mute and stop video for breaks)
- You can temporarily unmute your audio by pressing the Space bar if you need to greet attendees, respond to a question or comment from the other presenter, etc.
- Keep JMP windows away from the edges of your screen – they can be obscured by some of the Zoom controls during class
- Keep JMP windows out of the upper right corner of your screen (your video thumbnail is docked there in the recording)
- Toolkit tips
- Ask them to use Q&A and send messages to everyone, so that all the hosts/co-hosts can see the question or comment. (Private messages to a host or co-host get included in the transcript anyway)
- Ask them to use chat for questions not related to demo
- Have poll set up in advance. But you can also set up on the fly using EDIT from the Poll Window. It will drive you to the Zoom setup but after saving then you will have the option to open from your Zoom event.
- For polls, students who are logged in through a browser may not see the poll window; they can send answers in through the group chat
- End of session :Stop the recording (host)
