Hi all,
I have some very basic questions I would like to check how to answer correctly (I am starting with statistics, please be patient). I am not sure which results to chose in order to formulate simple answers.
My experiment is about changes in fixation count and in aesthetic experience before and after a painting is restored.
The data I have is:
- Restoration phase (before / after)
- Fixation count (number)
- Aesthetic experience (yes / no)
Questions: ("yes/no" and "how")
1) Is there a relationship between restoration phase and fixation count ?
2) Is there a relationship between restoration phase and aesthetic experience ?
3) Is there a relationship between fixation count and aesthetic experience?
I have put here the image of the analysis I have made.
P.s.: I have decided not to exclude outliers.
Answers:
1) No, there is no significant relationship between restoration phase and fixation count (α=0,05 / p=0.3498)
2) Yes, there is a significant relationship between restoration phase (before / after) and aesthetic experience (α=0,05 / ChiSquare = 0,037 / p=0,8484 / ).
3) No, there is no significant relationship between fixation count and aesthetic experience (α=0,05 / p=0,6071).
The help I need:
- Are the answers correct? Are the analysis the good ones to the types of variables I have?
- If I got statistics well, it is not possible to check causality, right? (because they all include a nominal variable). If not, how to understand how a variable influence the other from the actual analysis?
- What else can I say on each of the answers from the analysis attached to enrich my analysis?
Thank you very much!
