Training
Americas
Chandler, AZ - They utilize JMP e-learning courses. Myriam Roussel used to teach Green Belt, Black Belt and DoE classes, but has transitioned out of that role now.
Texas - Alex Pamatat teaches sessions globally.
Spring 2022 - CDS program is important to them (citizen data science). This started with Dataiku and has evolved to include JMP in 2021 and they plan to include JMP again in 2023, partnering with Adsurgo to deliver something very tailored. Concerns about productionalizing JMP vs. Dataiku after the program. Program consists of a bootcamp, elearning and Instructor based courses, mentoring, and ends with a hackathon (each participant brings a relevant use case). In 2021, JMP team got 2nd place.
Europe
Background Information: Inside NXP Europe, it’s possible to use JMP or Minitab. Furthermore, there is an individual cost, linked to the individual license for JMP (need for manager’s approval for this cost) however Minitab has a floating license (no need for manager’s approval).
Hamburg, (D) and Nijmegen (NL) - traditionally use Minitab
Toulouse (F) and Munich (D) Formerly Freescale - use extensively JMP
Corinne Berges’ role is to train people in SPS, Six Sigma and statistical analysis. Many of their training materials are written for JMP usage: however, if she wants to reach people in EMEA, she must also look after the Minitab users, so it is part of her training. “I have the exercises materials for both software: When I have the chance to have the 2 types of trainees, JMP and Minitab users, it’s very good to perform a direct comparison”
Asia
KL/TJ - Internal Greenbelt Certification Program requires engineers to use JMP. Quarterly JMP Training by Master Black Belt.
BK/KH - Scattered JMP Users, no formalize training. However, Alex's team is establishing this format to BK and KH sites.
JMP related Training Programs
Toulouse: Workshop for basic users and beginners, led in June 2019 (w. Valérie)
Workshop for advanced users (w. Chris Gotwalt): led 03/16/2020 (remote, due to Corona)
Hamburg: Workshop for basic users and beginners, 11/20/2019 (w. Valérie)
Nijmegen: JMP workshop for basic users and beginners (TBD)
Munich: Workshop for advanced users, 13/03/2020 (w. Chris Gotwalt, Valérie) (remote, due to Corona)
NXP has several SAS Education Trainer's kits:
- ANOVA and Regression
- Sources of Variation / Measurement Systems Analysis
- Custom Design of Experiments
- Modern Screening Designs

Data Infrastructure
Teradata, Oracle Database. 3 Petabytes of Hadoop Storage located in Chandler.
Product Data is located in Exensio.
Analytic Tool/Competitive Landscape
Minitab and Exensio Yield are used in pre-Phillips sites. NXP Worldwide is using Tableau Server and Power-Bi especially in Supply Chain Operations, IT and Finance.
Have yearly Data Science Citizen Program since 2019 which incorporates Instructor-Led Training by Dataiku. Program usually runs for 6 months and ends with a Hackathon Competition. In 2021, they incorporated a team that only uses JMP for advance statistical modelling to compete in the Hackathon.
Strategy
They have downgraded to baseline in agreement; guaranteed spend; valid through May 2020 renegotiation; $267/user renewal. New at 440 fixed fee.
Establish better champions – little traction with Robert Wienman, etc.
Notes on Technical Engagement
Activity
- 21.02.2019 Meeting, Chandler, AZ – On site JMP Hoedown at NXP. Laura Higgins, Scott Wise, Dara Hammond and Pete Hersh. 67 people that work at that facility with Myriam Roussel. Device group, Sensor, Process groups. Host – Myriam Roussel. Topics- Machine Learning for Variable Selection and Modeling Laura Higgins– used STMicroelectronics;
- Scripting use – About have the room currently used JMP scripts that were created for them. Training – They utilize JMP e-learning courses. Myriam used to teach Green Belt, Black Belt and DoE classes, but has transitioned out of that role now Alex teaches in TX not clear they have someone in AZ.
- Additional notes: Audience makeup: Device group - runs a lot of scripts look at data on a daily, variability plots data visualization. Sensor group - important from STDF extractor run gauge R&R. Process group – DoE and analyze data check device work more manual stuff inline process data.
Audience Poll: Who uses what in JMP:
½ use for DoE
¾ don’t currently use scripts
¼ Quality
½ use JMP for data visualization
