Re: source for sample size calculation formulaIt's explained in Meeker's book - Statistical Methods for Reliability Data. Chapter 10, Section 10.6. It shows up explicitly in subsection 10.6.2. He talks about it in terms of the "quantile of interest (1-p)" and not "reliability (R)", but I think he's doing that to simplify the concept for the audience in the video.
