Elevator Pitch for Pharma and Biotech:
JMP Genomics helps you visually and interactively explore complex and rare cell populations, detect the differential gene expression patterns across cell types through clustering analysis, profiles transcriptional changes in immune cells to help develop vaccines or treatment, and uncover the evolutionary dynamics of tumor progression, metastasis, and treatment resistance.Competitive advantages: Simple and advanced visual and interactive analyses all in one place without programming.
Elevator Pitch for Plant Breeders and Crop Bioscientists:
Using a foundation of agronomic research and cutting edge-algorithms, high paced breeding cycles performed in JMP Genomics allows plant breeders and crop bioscientists to drive the selection of healthier crops by modeling genetic variability, optimizing breeding choices, simulating multiple-trait breeding programs and balancing trade-offs across key desirable traits. Competitive advantages: Simple and advanced visual and interactive analyses all in one place without programming.

What does a typical workflow look like for users?
In order to do reproducible scientific experimentation, you have to follow a certain protocol of steps. The primary/ most common workflows for JMP Genomics are The “Basic Expression”, “Basic RNA-seq”, “Basic Copy Number” and “Basic Tiling” workflows primarily follow the following steps with the data:
- 1. Quality Control (is the data accurate?)
- 2. Normalization (is this apples to apples?)
- 3. Experimental Design and Model (how is your design laid out?)
- 4. Differential Expression (How the genes are expressing differently/changing?)
- 5. Annotation (Identifying the genes with large differences)
How much is JMP Genomics?
- JMP Genomics is $14,900 for FYF (same as JMP Clinical and JMP Pro)
- Volume discounts available.
- Please refer to the JMP Genomics pricing page for the latest information.
Does JMP Genomics have all the features that JMP Pro has?
JMP Genomics is built on JMP Pro. The capabilties are accessible throught the menus, however we have not integrated these capabilties within JMP Genomic's predictive modeling processes, interface and methods.
When is JMP Genomics not a good fit for Genomics?
- Bioinformatic analysis
- Raw sequence processing
- Sequence Alignments
- Rare Variant Detection
- Network Analysis
- Pathway Analysis (except for Gene Set Enrichment Analysis, GSEA)
- Small expression panel analysis (qPCR or small targeted microarrays)
These types of panels are around a few hundred genes and are typically already analyzed. JMP or JMP Pro may be the best depending on the need (DOE for panel optimization, predictive model creation and deployment, panel assessment, results of a DOE to find significant factors and then optimizing process)
Who are the main competitors of JMP Genomics?
Golden Helix
- Has less analytics.
- Has fewer statistical visualizations.
- Potential Issue: Has a services branch to do the work for the customer
Partek
- Has less analytics, only allows models up to 2 factors. Ex: you can compare differences in expression between Male and Females, and between Control, Treatment 1, and Treatment 2. JMPG allows for many factors. Ex: in addition to the sex comparison and the treatment comparison we can also include age groups, diet groups, etc. As many factors as you need.
- Has fewer statistical visualizations
- Potential Issue: Has full pipeline allows Partek to perform sequence alignment, which JMP cannot do.
BioPython
- Error prone, programmers create one-off code.
- No tech support
- Potential Issue: Latest machine learning methods are available sooner than JMPG
R Bioconductor
- Error prone, programmers create one-off code.
- No tech support.
- Latest machine learning methods are available sooner than JMPG
Qiagen Omnisoft and Workbench Solutions (Geoff to add notes) Aglient GeneSpring (Geoff to add notes)
Where is JMP Genomics installed?
Must be installed on a local PC (Windows) to virtualized environment (similar to JMP and JMP Pro).
What if I have a strong candidate for JMP Genomics- what should I do?
- Find out if they have budget.
- Find out if they have right kind of data. Aligned RNA/DNA sequence data, typically. Metabolomics and Proteomics data don’t need to be aligned.
- Schedule the demo.
Are there examples of sales wins for JMP Genomics for me to learn about?
You can read about JMP Genomics sales wins by referring to the
sales wins list here and using Control+F to find Genomics wins.
Who typically presents JMP Genomics demos?
Some SE's are able to do their own JMP Genomics demos at an introductory level. If needed, your SE will work with Chris Kirchberg or Valerie Nedbal to prepare for the demo. If they still need more support, Chris or Valerie will help with the demo. If they are not available, Luciano will be able to help.
