New select column feature in JMP 15I love the new feature that allows you to select columns interactively before opening a jmp table. However is there anyway to get those column names in to a list using a script. My use case is that I might want to only open columns that begin with litho_ but may not know that names of all those columns ?
Thanks in advance
Kevin
Re: New select column feature in JMP 15Hi @kevin_lennon,
You can use the "Column Names Only" argument with Open() and that will return the list you want:
listOfNames = Open( "$SAMPLE_DATA/Fitness.jmp", Column Names Only );

Re: New select column feature in JMP 15I probably didn’t explain myself properly. The new JMP 15 feature allows you to view the columns before the table is open in memory by reading the meta data. Supposing I have a 5GB JMP table that has 10k columns. I would rather not open the 5GB table to memory but instead see the columns that are in table and only open the ones I need.
This can be done interactively when opening a table using the drop down in the open dialogue. However I want to get the column names in a list before opening the table proper.
The solution you offered opens the table first, which is what I want to avoid.
Thanks
Kevin
Re: New select column feature in JMP 15Here is a sample script to get a list of columns that match certain text:
dt = open("$SAMPLE_DATA/Semiconductor Capability.jmp");
list = dt << get column names;
parsed_list = {};
for(i=1, i<=N items(list), i++,
if(contains(list[i], "NPN"),
insert into(parsed_list, list[i])
)
);
show(parsed_list);
