The "G" series posts in the technical reference libraries will refer to Great Demo material. "Great Demo" is a special classification for a posting that meets the minimum criteria shown below. A Great Demo posting contain everything necessary to quickly and easily assemble a customer demo supporting the concept of a "last minute demo" and a "demo ready to present". A "Great Demo" should also embrace the concepts espoused in the book Great Demo as well as other best practices such as Relevance, Brevity, Simplicity and Impact.
Minimum Requirements for a Great Demo
- Short Overview Paragraph (1)
- JMP Journal
- JMP Data Table(s)
- Relevant case study or documented example (this should match the contents of the journal and data table)
- Short Overview Video (5 min) (2)
- Longer Video of the complete demo (15-60 mins as needed) (3)
Optional Material
- Relevant Qualification Questions
- Supporting documents such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Picture Files

- Other material as appropriate for the topic
Footnotes
(1) The short overview paragraph should contain the essential elements for the topic, who would use it, why would they use it, what are the most essential facts about the topic. This is akin to an elevator speech. If there were only a few minutes to describe a topic, what should be said?
(2) The short video should be a quick overview covering
- All the files available for the demo
- A top level of the sequence of the demo
(3) The long video should be a replication of performing the demo in a customer setting using the materials provided. Examples of this are the Mastering JMP videos. After watching this video, any SE should be able to replicate the demo.
Not that anyone will have forgotten
