JMP vs JMP Pro software depot

Hi all, happy Friday.

 

Does anybody know if the software depot for JMP Standard and JMP Pro are identical, except for the license file? I think this used to be the case, not sure if still the same in 15.

 

Administrator at large site is asking if he can use same depot for deploying both standard JMP and JMP Pro, and distribute the appropriate license file at installation time to control access. I can understand why this is something we might not want to publicize, but don't see the harm in acknowledging it if it makes administration and deployment easier. This administrator is conscientious about maintaining user counts for JMP and JMP Pro.

The Software depots for JMP and JMP Pro are different in more than just the license file.  Please advise your customer not to combine the deployment to use one depot for both JMP and JMP Pro.

 

When the installer is launched,  it runs as JMP or JMP Pro and will lay down different key files that control how the preferences will be stored.  Also, the software updaters will detect if JMP or JMP Pro had been installed before updates are made - and this determination is based on which installer they originally used.
