spectral data filesHi SE´s
Does anyone have any experience working with .spc or .sp files from spectral measurements?
I have several customer now approaching me because they wish to get their data in JMP. So far I have found that python scripting can handle this but I am hoping for a simple solution.
Thanks
best Christian
Re: spectral data filesThis has come up multiple times, most recently here (which you perhaps saw already, Christian). I'm sorry to say that I don't think things have changed in the interim, and still think this could be something worth spending time on.
Cheers,
Ian
Re: spectral data filesFWIW and FYI, a little work with Google led me to Spectragryph. This at least seems to be under continued development and free for academic and personal use. Many such packages either only run on Windows 3.1 (!?) or are commercial. It's also very functional.
The 'Features' tab gave some hope that it might be possible to automate, which would open the door for using 'RunProgram()' if true. This may or may not be a better starting point than the Python code if we wanted a JMP add-in.
Re: spectral data filesHi Ian,
thanks for the answers!
It seems to be some work in either case. I will discuss this with the customer to hear what he thinks.
happy Easter

Re: spectral data filesThe spc binary format is probably something that could be decoded using the Blob functions in JSL. The format for spc is well documented - the Python, R, and other tools could all be used as templates for how to crack it. I found an older description on the web (attached).
