Sorry, but how can I get JMP to recognize a fraction as a number?

Sorry all,

For the life of me, I cannot remember how to get JMP to recognize a fraction as a number. i.e. 1 ⅓ cup as 1.3334 cups.

Anybody got a hint here? Seems kind of basic. I prefer decimals, but not all information on the web or in the old imperial system (US mainly) displays things as decimals.

That works. Thanks. I would think that supporting fraction natively would be helpful in some cases.

Chris, try this formula, which assumes there is a space between the number and the fraction:

Ya, that does not seem to work in a JMP data table to enter "=1+1/3" in to a field for a single row within a column but removing the double quotes does. I think that works for a few entries but when I have 30 entries, that does seem to be tedious, especially when I already have a table with the fractions from a different source and multiple other columns.

I guess I will put in a request for native support of fractions
