Geocoding addresses at scale

I have a customer who has been using the add-in to geocode addresses. The add-in uses Google Maps which now requires a key in order to query the database.

How customers are getting around this to do geocoding at scale?

I haven't used it in a while - it never seemed to behave for me. For US addresses I've used the US Census Geocode tools - either the online ones or the REST API. Attached is a script @christianstopp and I were tossing back and forth a while back that shows how to do the REST API call.

Most APIs require a key. Often, it's just a matter of asking for it. Have they tried requesting a key for the Google Maps service that the add-in uses?
