In an attempt to simply and provide more distinct actions within the Community, we need to review the affect of removing existing items. One item I would propose to remove is the Bookmark button (the Bookmark menu item in the Actions drop down menu would still exist).
JMPCOM-10 takes a look at the bookmark metrics.
As of 05FEB2020,
- There are 923 bookmarks
- About 4% of (or slightly over 400) members have an item bookmarked
Bookmarks are a way to easily visit messages within the Community. However, there are several clicks that you need to take before being able to view your bookmarks.
It seems that most of the members that have a bookmark have visited the site within the past year (click JMP Live graph below to see results)
Many of the bookmarks are to top level areas within the Community which are accessible via the main menu (click JMP Live graph below to see results)
Based on these findings, I would propose:
- Remove the Bookmark button from the action toolbar so that bookmarking a page is only available from the action menu
If we decide to make use of bookmarks in the future, we should provide a better way to expose the bookmarked items.
