Reverse Prediction for Neural

Hello All,

 

Have one customer using a neural network build a model, while he is asking whether or not he can use it to do reverse prediction,

for example, given a response, can predict setting of the factors?

This would generally be a difficult problem given the usual case of many inputs and several outputs. Have you tried using the prediction profiler with desirability functions?

Yes, we could use "prediction profiler" for sort of reverse prediction, this method applies for predictive modeling platforms e.g. type of decision trees, NN as there is no "Inverse Prediction" option there

my understanding:
as multiple different settings of Xs could result in the same Y, even using the "Inverse Prediction" under the "Fit Model" platform, we can only reverse predict one factor at a time using the pre-built model.
There is generally no way to tell all the factors' settings for a given Response Y (which is an ideal wish from my customer)
