Many companies rely on critical data about their products and processes from external sources such as suppliers, or data collected at various locations with limited supervision such as with clinical trials. Examining the quality of the actual data is now possible with JMP. I will show how to use the new Explore Patterns Screening platform in JMP 15 to identify suspicious data patterns from manufacturing suppliers or possible fraudulent data from pharmaceutical testing. Explore Patterns is a tool to uncover unusual patterns in data that might not otherwise be noticed. Certain patterns characteristic of data tampering include copying and pasting repeated segments of data, creating data with simple formulas or manipulating data to be within specification limits. I will show how this interactive platform can find these patterns in large data sets. In addition to identifying possible data integrity issues, Explore Patterns can also be used to find relationships between columns that might be related to manufacturing issues or other sequential patterns across columns.
