Has any used Import Multiple Files on XML?

I have many XML files (with .gpx extension) from a running tracking app that I would like to import. Each run is a separate .gpx file.

Having never worked with XML, importing a single file using the import wizard was surprisingly easy. Thanks, Developers!

In Settings in Import Multiple Files it looks like it should be possible to use the JSL from the single file import to apply the same for multiple XML files. But I can't work out how. And the documentation doesn't seem to cover this capability.

This is not a priority requirement. Just something I have been playing with for a possible demo/blog post.

Yup, it’s really easy – Import one XML file using the wizard as a prototype. Go into the “Source” table script and copy the “XML Settings(…)” bit with all the stuff inside. Paste that code snippet into the XML tab in MFI's Settings dialog. It should work without any issues. I’ve shown this to a customer that had a pile of JSON files, so I know it works there too.

Yes. I just tried manually changing the file extension to .xml for a couple of files and now it works.

Any easy way to change the file extension for multiple files?

That could be. It’s interesting that it will work with the single file import but not MFI. That aside, it’s really easy to batch rename files:

* On the mac using Finder (https://www.imore.com/how-rename-multiple-files-once-mac)
* On PC using Windows Explorer (https://www.windowscentral.com/how-rename-multiple-files-bulk-windows-10).
* Most good third party file managers (OneCommander, Forklift, etc.)
