INTERNAL USE ONLY: This document is internal use only at this time.
2016/04/08 Features for EA6 (May, 2016).
Data Import, Data Table, Data Visualization, General
- Support for opening HDF5 files through JSL with the ability to specify the data sets that are opened.
- Continued work on Treemaps updates.
- Standardization of keystrokes on the updated Formula Editor: Now that the column list is being used in the Formula Editor, the fact that it is multi-select creates more confusion around some of the magic keystrokes that are honored.
- Ctrl (Cmd) and shift+click will only affect the selection in the column list.
- Alt (Option)+click will be used to "force" replacement of non-empty fields from the variable or column lists, or replace (instead of wrap for the function list, click+alt+shift will be used to edit the local variable/parameter value in place.
- The context menu for the column list has two new items: one replaces all occurrences of the selected expression with the currently selected (single) column; the other replaces the selected expression with multiple columns (formerly shift+click) for operators that support it (e.g. sum, +).
- Multi-select and drag is another way of replacing an expression with multiple columns. The Shift+Match operator with a column selected in a formula cell will generate a match that prefills in all the existing column values as selectors.
- Significant work to speed up the Save Table operation in ODBC in response to customer feedback.
Design of Experiments
- Continued work on Fit Definitive Screening.
- Bug fixing and stability improvements for Compare Designs.
- The DOE menu has been modified (many designers grouped under descriptive headings). We are looking for feedback on this.

Additions include IR charts, XBarS charts, Shift Detection, capability for selected items, ability to hide the tests, ability to turn tests on and off, K for K Sigma was removed, Use Limits Table has been altered so that the user can’t specify LCL or UCL, Use Medians instead of Means, Nelson tests use CCB preferences, Latest Out of Spec, Find and Select, Quick Graph, ability to specify the performance graph boundaries, Save Details Table, Save Selected Details, ability to sort report columns.

Consumer Research
Quality Engineering/Reliability
- See changes to Process Screening platform.
- Continued work on the Repairable Systems Simulation platform: Support traditional maintenance, corrective maintenance and preventive maintenance, as off-the-shelf building blocks. Introduces a diagrammatic representation of maintenance arrangement alongside a Reliability Block Diagram (RBD) in a single workspace. Discrete Event Simulation-based engine. Diagrammatic linkages between event and action elements across components to convey the idea of grouped maintenance and maintenance dependencies.

2016/03/21 Features for EA5 (April, 2016).
Data Import, Data Table, Data Visualization, General
- Continued work on the Formula Editor. We need feedback on which functions ought to be “pinned” in the formula editor. We've made an effort to curate a subset of functions, which are most important/common, but it would be helpful to have you take a look and tell us if there are others that are important.
- Modeling Types have been expanded with None, Multiple Response, Vector and Unstructured Text.

Scripting
- Support for classes. Supports functions, methods (virtual), inheritance (this, super), messages, namespace code blocks.
- Document-specific style support in script windows.
- Addition of the Using Namespace() function.
- The way JSL handles lists have been significantly optimized.
2016/02/18 Features for EA4 (March, 2016).
Data Import, Data Table, Data Visualization, General
- Mac support for HDF5 file import.
- Continued work on the updated Formula editor.
Design of Experiments
- Updates to the Fit Definitive Screening modeling platform.
- Modifications to the DOE menu to streamline analysis and workflow.
- Addition of Max Diff (Best/Worse) Design creation in the Consumer Studies submenu of the DOE menu.
- Compare designs platform is ready for testing and review.
Statistics/Modeling
- Explore missing values algorithm change for "Multivariate SVD Imputation" to a sparse implementation, which can be much faster if there is lots of zeros in your data.
- There are some new two-stage variable selection procedures in the Generalized Regression of Fit Model:
- The "Double Lasso", which uses an initial Adaptive Lasso pass to do an initial screening and then uses the results parameters to form weights for a second Adaptive Lasso pass. This has been looked at in the statistics literature and is has much improved model selection properties over the classic Lasso methods.
- Two Stage Forward Selection. This does an initial forward selection considering only main effects, and then does a second pass of forward selection for the interactions and other higher order terms. It has excellent properties for model selection for DOEs.
- Sparse PCA method addition to the Principal Components platform. Also, support for supplementary variables and addition of DMODX. Updates to output report to include loading and scores style scatterplot matrix from the Text Explorer platform.
Consumer Research
- Rate Per Response and Multiple Responses in Outer Nests added to the Categorical Platform.
- Bug fixes, stability improvements to Bayesian Choice models.
Quality Engineering/Reliability
- New Repairable Systems Simulation platform available.
Output/Sharing
- Interactive HTML reports add value label support.
Scripting
- We fixed an inconsistency in handling matrix subscripting when the subscript itself is also a matrix. Using an N-item matrix subscript returns an N-item matrix. Before, a number was returned for N==1.
