AEM: Copying an existing page (Touch UI)Instead of always creating pages from scratch, it is often easier to duplicate an existing page and then make changes to the duplicate, as necessary. This is especially helpful when the new page requires a similar layout/purpose as a page that already exists.
Steps for creating a copy of an existing page:
- Select an existing page by clicking on its icon in the listing.
- Click “Copy” in the contextual menu above the listing.
- Click “Paste” in the upper left corner. AEM will then add a copy of the originally selected page to the bottom of the folder selected in the previous step. A number (usually “1”) will get appended to the end of the file name.
- Select this new page by clicking on its icon in the listing.
- Click “Move” from the contextual menu above the listing.
- Move Page – Step 1 – Rename
- Update the “Page Title”. This is what will appear in the browser tab
- Update the “Page Name”. This is what appears in the URL. It should be all lowercase with hyphens to separate words.
- Click “Next” in upper right corner.
- Move Page – Step 2 – Select Destination
- Select the desired folder by CLICKING ON ITS ICON in the listing. It’s not enough to have the folder highlighted… you have to specifically click on the icon. Otherwise, you may get an error. (Often, the destination folder may be the same folder as where the original (aka existing) page is located.)
- Click “Move” in the upper right corner.
- You should now see your renamed page at the bottom of the desired folder.
