Tablets are an important dosage form accounting for approximately 50% of pharmaceutical application forms.Except for special cases, tablets are produced by compacting powders and granules in a mortar. Therefore, stress having various vectors remains in the tablet even after the pressure is released. It is known that the residual stress is closely related to tableting troubles such as capping and lamination. It can also significantly affect important properties related to tablet quality. We model the compaction process of powders and granules by Drucker-Prager-Cap model, and estimate the residual stress in the tablet by the finite element method. As a result of applying a generalized regression model (JMP Pro 14) to these stress values, the quality characteristics of the tablets were predicted with high accuracy, and the stress sites that affected the quality characteristics could be identified. In this presentation, we will introduce examples of tablet research with different prescriptions and shapes, and consider the possibility and limitations of quality characteristic prediction by generalized regression model.
