JMP Discovery App Instructions
The JMP Discovery survey applications are intended to be a convenient and easy way for the JMP Discovery Steering Committee(s) to review and rate submitted abstracts. For each conference, the following process can be followed. Detailed steps are included below.
- Create a Survey to Rate JMP Discovery Papers
- Jeff’s instructions to export abstracts from Salesforce
- Run ImportAbstracts.jsl
- Run createDiscoveryPapersPDF.jsl
- Create the Survey add-in using Add-in Builder.
- Send out the Survey app to committee members
- Receive feedback via email, with ratings tables attached
- Aggregate Results and create a Review add-in
- Run Rank.jsl (creates PDFs also)
- Create the Review add-in using Add-in Builder
A. Create Survey
1. Run this report from Salesforce. Be sure to change the campaign to the appropriate Call for Papers campaign. The report must be run by (or as) Kathy Walker in order to see all the necessary fields. https://na79.salesforce.com/00O1O0000099Rxr
S Export the report as a .CSV file.
2. Run ImportAbstracts.jsl script to convert to correct format <Jeff, Audrey may need to update this section, based on what columns actually come out of Salesforce. As of Sept 2015, we don’t have a ‘real’ set of data to work with yet.>
a. Open() statement should be changed to point to the correct file. See SalesForce section above.
b. The expectation is that a column :xcfp_submission_type exists in the raw format, and each cell has either “Poster”, “30 Minute Paper”, or “45 Minute Paper” in this column. If you have rows that do not conform, you will be shown an interim table and a dialog telling you which rows do not match. Examine the rows, in particular the columns for xcfp_submission_type and xcfp Paper Length (columns 2 & 3 in your interim table).

c. If some values need to be corrected, then update the interim table and choose Rerun.
d. If no values need to be corrected and the “bad rows” are simply garbage rows, choose Exclude Selected Rows.
e. Next, you will be presented with your final table, named DiscoveryPapers. You will see a Success message. If you chose Exclude Selected Rows, you will see all your excluded rows at the top. Review them one more time before modifying or deleting them.

f. Important! You must SAVE DiscoveryPapers.jmp.
g. DiscoveryPapers must have these column names (they can be empty, but must exist). Double check these column names.
i. Number

iii. xcfp Paper Length
iv. First Name
