Greetings! I recently did a demo of walking through custom regex tool. I did a couple of basic examples of how this tool works on sample data (thanks Brady!) but I didn't have anything really interesting to show - it was enough to show them how to use the tool, but not really to WOW them. Does some one have a favorite demo of using custom regex?
I did some work with custom regex to clean up tweets for text analysis -- pretty simple, but effective.
The table attached contains tweets about REI, the outdoors gear shop. The Text Explorer script has the custom regex embedded.
Haven't used this in a customer-facing demo, not sure how well it would work for your needs.

I don't have a specific demo, but I do have a number of examples I could share. One thing I use for is replacing extraneous characters, like multiple spaces with a single space
Regex(textToParse,"[ ]{2,}"," ",Global Replace)
or tabs, carriage returns, line feeds, with a space
Regex(textToParse,"[\t\n\r]+"," ",Global Replace)
Regex is an extremely powerful tool and Craige Hales has done a phenomenal job implementing it in JMP (even has look ahead and look behind). Not much you can't do, text-wise.
I'm in the process of putting together a Discovery Europe session on prepping data for Text Explorer and will talk about using Regex in a bit of detail. I will be happy to share it when I'm done.
