Minitab Style Contour plotHello Everyone,
Came across this customer qestion and would like to hear your take on it. They like the contour plot that Minitab generates (smooth lines) over the JMP contour plot where the lines are jagged.
Attached is the data file.
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance!
Here is the contour plots from Minitab and JMP:

Re: Minitab Style Contour plotSome thoughts on "Smooth" Contour Plots:
1. They are models. Minitab is probably using a Gaussian Blur or LOESS interpolation method. So you can get a similar "smoothed" output, you just need to go through something like Gaussian Process and a profiler. JMP doesn't make any assumptions about what's going on between the points and just draws a straight line. You could point out this is a good thing, because the customer doesn't know how well it can trust the assumptions that Minitab is making to draw that smooth curve. JMP gives it to you straight, warts and all. Minitab tries to sugar-coat it for you.
2. Between us SE's and the wall... And because JMP 14 is just a bit over a month away. The Contour plot in Graph Builder for v14 can smooth out the contours. I think Xan did a demo of the capability at some point during the EA (it should be part of the resources in Brady's add-in).
