Import multiple xls spreadsheet and different worksheets

Hi all,

a customer was asking if it is possible to import multiple xls spreadsheets and from specific spreadsheets multiple worksheets.i have tried with the multiple file import but it opens only the first worksheet from the xls if it has multiple ones.

Hi Valerie,

I guess you can use a for loop as it is done in Byron's script https://community.jmp.com/t5/JMP-Scripts/Combine-multiple-txt-or-csv-files/ta-p/24083. You would need to change the call for import adjusting for the sheets you want in the workbook, best by using try statement: If sheets exist use this import. May it is even possible to check first all workbooks on what worksheet names they have, put them in a list and the ask the user to pick the sheets he wants. Then run only through the workbooks and sheets .

Might be a bit tricky to make that working robust, but the principle seems to be not that difficult.

Hi Valerie,

I can't see an option to import multiple sheets from an excel file in Multiple File Import. And it doens't look like there is an option using the Multiple File Import() JSL function. I would think that this would require a scripting solution. Probably starting from the captured script from using the Excel Import Wizard.
