When X factor is input like S1,S2,S3,,,S10,S11,S12,,,,,SN,
If we do 'Some graph' or 'fit Y by X' with this data,
Ordering in X axis is like S1,S11,S12,,,,,S2,S21,,,,.
regardless of modeling type even though ordinal data.
If we hope to order like S1,S2,S3,,,,,,S10,S11,S12,,,
how do we do ?
Of course, we can use value ordering of column property.
but this is very manual method and is impossible if row no. is many.
I hope your idea and tips
Thanks
Hi,Jeff
Thank you.
Thanks to you, I learned natural sort and alphabetical sort
This may not always work, but the Row Order Levels column property would also fix the Column 4 issue with your data table. Just another "trick" to keep in mind that can help in some situations.
Hi @IkjuShin,
JMP 14 introduced a 'natural sort' order for strings that end in numbers, like your "S1, S2,...Sn".
It should be working on most, if not all axes.

Note that as seen with Column 4, it only works with strings that end in the number. We will be expanding this 'natural sort' feature in JMP 15 to include numbers in other places in the string.
In previous versions of JMP you'll have to use the Value Order property. As you point out this can be inconvenient with a large number of values. It can be made a bit easier by copying and pasting the orders in the correct value.
