Parallels versus VM Ware for Mac users - thoughts?

Anyone have a compelling reason to perfer one over the other for VM Ware vs Parallels? I've ran Parallels for years and it seems ok. My images seem very large but I think that's Window's fault. 

 

I have a new computer coming so it's the right time to think about change. I would appreciate any advise for positives or negatives. I usually present full screen but occasionally use the coherence feature for personal use.

 

If anyone has any particiaul insight into performace, I'd say that is my highest priority (to demo in Windows and make JMP Pro look fast). Behind that would be image size, easy copy/paste between mac, etc.

For me the bottom line will be how well the touch bar is used. The last version of Fusion stripped some features from the main gui and put them in to the touchbar (which I won’t have until October). The move ticked a lot of people off – myself included.

To @danielvalente’s points, Fusion has the Unity Mode that (I think) would be comparable. For reference, my Windows 7 install is 89GB (with a SAS Desktop Install and SimStudio)… haven’t made the move to windows 10 yet.

Re: Parallels versus VM Ware for Mac users - thoughts?I’ve used and continue to use parallels. I recently went from a Win 7 -> Win 10 images and my images size dropped from ~ 120GB down to 40GB or so, so it may be a good idea to also do a fresh VM when you get your new computer. I’ve also used VMWare in the past and haven’t had any issues. Parallels more recent updates with the automatic snapshots and low-power mode are quite useful. I also frequently use Parallels “coherence” mode to take high-rez screenshots of the Windows JMP UI on my Mac Retina screen (make sure parallels is setup for max resolution in the settings). I’ve found it the easiest way to get print-quality DPI graphics out of JMP, complete with a nice drop-shadow and the UI (if you need to capture something like Query Builder, for example that doesn’t lend itself to exporting the graphics using the standard means.

Not sure if VMWare has similar functionality, but I would miss this feature if I moved away from Parallels.
