Team,
Notes from our Webinar demo with BASF Chemical Production Team in USA/Mexico on 12/09/15.
Thanks to Erich for filling-in and giving an excellent webinar demo on this USA/Mexico cross regional opportunity!
Webinar Notes: BASF Chemical Production Team in USA/Mexico on 12/09/15
1. Place, Date & Time:
- Customer: BASF Chemical Production Team
- Place: Various sites in US & Mexico (Champions in Wyandotte, MI)
- Dates: Wednesday, December 9th, 2015
- Times: 2:00PM-4:00PM EST
- Meeting Type: JMP Webinar
2. Background
- JMP webinar requested by BASF Chemical Production Team in Wyandotte, MI for Engineers/Supervisors in various locations in USA/Mexico
- Outgrowth of work with Champions (Jim Daily and Christopher Utz) who attended JMP Discovery 2015 and calls with the local JMP Midwest Team
- Chris Utz (Manager) wants JMP webinar to wet their appetite for something more
- Opportunity came out of presentation that Mike Capracotta gave to the Production Site Leaders on an Viscosity Increase InvestigationJim Dailey is our biggest internal JMP Advocate at BASF and has been showing JMP off at internal monthly seminars - See Attachment Below
- They were impressed with what Mike could do with modeling (used Fit Model Regression and Distributions) and were interested in seeing if this could benefit their team members
- Chris originally asked Mike and Jim Dailey to do this internally, but now taking advantage of JMP being able to show some content as well
- Biggest focus is on how this can help us with the plant, so demonstrate how they might use to tell for things like asset utilization, etc.
- Currently on JMP 11 (No JMP Pro)
- BASF (8) -
- Christopher (Chris) Utz – Host – JMP Champion – Manager, Support Team
- James (Jim) Dailey – JMP Champion – Support Team
- Kinshuk Bharati
- John Snyder
- Michael (Mike) Capracotta – Support Team
- Mike Murray
- Eliner Rogelio Vazquez Garduro
- Leticia Serna Ocampo
- JMP
- Dan Durkin – JMP Beacon Account Executive
- Erich Gundlach – JMP Midwest System Engineer
- Scott Wise – JMP Global Technical Team (1/2 Call-In)
4. Visit Purpose
- Help further position JMP and potentially JMP Pro for new area within BASF (Chemical Production Team)
5. Customer Needs
- Show JMP Demo highlighting Holistic DOE topics (Explore, Screening/Modeling, Experimentation)
- Also will show own work using JMP during the webinar
6. What Shown
- Introductions (Chris Utz)
- JMP Case Study (Erich Gundlach)
- Background (White Polymer Case)
- Exploring Methods:
- Ex: Control Charting, Distributions, Bivariate/Oneway, Multivariate, etc.
- Screening/Modeling:
- Decision Tree, Profiler, Stepwise Regression, Model Analysis, etc.
- Experimentation:
- Custom DOE Setup and Anlaysis, etc.
- Customer Data Live Demo (Erich Gundlach) - (See Attachment Below)
- Erich Live Data on Their Data: Dioxane Vs. Acid Value Data from Kankakee Plant (Illinois)
- Looking at chemical content in a product
- Calculate a variables (processing time)
- Seemed to like the decision tree
- Help them validate some process assumptions
- Wrap-Up (Chris Utz)
- Encouraged use of JMP
- Mike Capracotta Designated as the Champion
- Classic BASF Response: Customers quoted that this was a great tool, but still had some reservation on the time to use it
- Some push down to use JMP (By Chris), but still has to be done in the tight confines of the BASF culture (more of an individual "hero" culture)
- However excitement created over modeling on key historical process data (especially with decision trees and regression) is definitely something to follow-up on
- Opportunity to better position and spread JMP as a day to day tool throughout a new area BASF Chemical Production
- Dan to reach out to Chris and Mike and see how they felt the meeting went, plus see what additional steps we could take with them to expand.
