Date: 12/01/15
Chris's Notes:
HI Dan and Scott,
We had a couple of attendees from 3M at the MN Jump Start with JMP session the week before thanks giving.
I did talk to Shantel Rivard who is Senior Product Engineer for Product Assurance (soon to move to the manufacturing group) for Dental Products (part of 3M ESPE). She used JMP long ago and liked it, but has not used it recently. After attending the training session she will get a copy and start using again. She said main reason that people might only use MiniTab is that training is available for it and that is comes with peoples computers. NO really other reason other than familiarity with it.
Mike Mercer was there and publicly stated that if you want to do DOE know Brad Jones and use JMP.
A few other from 3M basically repeated what Shantel said. One person (Vincent Rasbury ) said he applied the DSD techniques and he had success each time. Really saved them a lot of time. Also, he mentioned a good story where people running the experiment let the center points sit overnight and discovered that time sitting in treatment matter, which they thought did not matter.
He seemed OK with sharing his results with others, but not sure of the mechanism to do so. He said he will be letting others know that they should be using JMP and DSD.
Chris Novak was the other person who attended and is from the Lean Six Sigma group. He also was excited about using JMP more as well.
Jing Hu Showed up, but she is not much help. She seems clueless in general
I guess the next step would be getting some of these folks talking to each other. It was agreed that a 3M User Group would help, but no one seemed willing to take charge.
