So, we might want a t-shirt for Discovery. Here are some xkcd comics that might be appropriate.
Nice finds! How about this one? xkcd: Self-Description
Also this one on pundits vs. actual numbers: xkcd: Math
Check these out as possible Discovery T-shirts...

And here's my favorite for our T-shirts:

I really like this one --
--"pundits" really works because it is for September, which is right November, which is election time
--it would replicate well on a T-shirt
--we can connect the new release because this is cartoon number 1131, and we can say that 13 is a bigger number than 12
It is a funny one. I really like the caption (...numbers continue to be the best system...).
However, something about it seems just a bit off axis for our audience. It's a bit political, especially the red/blue colors. Our audience isn't really made up of "pundits" or people who work with "pundits".
For me the best options are:
Hidden caption: Hell, my eighth grade science class managed to conclusively reject it just based on a classroom experiment. It's pretty sad to hear about million-dollar research teams who can't even manage that.
Hidden caption: Correlation doesn't imply causation, but it does waggle its eyebrows suggestively and gesture furtively while mouthing 'look over there'.
Hidden caption: If all else fails, use "significant at a p>0.05 level" and hope no one notices.
They all speak directly to our audience. They humorously point out problems that will be familiar to all of them.
They also work well on t-shirts. We could put the image on one side of the shirt and the roll-over, hidden caption on the other side. All of these have nice, ironic roll-over captions.
