NoSQL Mongo Database
A customer request to link JMP to a NoSQL Mongo Database.
https://www.mongodb.com/
As it is a NoSQL Database, I’m not comfortable by the fact that JMP can connect to it. Am I Right? If not, does anyone have any experience and/or material on this subject?
Thank a lot for your feedback,
Florence
Re: NoSQL Mongo DatabaseA good MongoDB DBM will think about the schema before loading data into a cluster. MongoDB sells this as a service and there are many consultants and bloggers that talk about this. As with most things: garbage in, garbage out.
For example, from this post:
"with MongoDB, you need to know the data access pattern of the application. This should not be neglected as creating a wrong schema design is a recipe for disaster: queries will be difficult to write and to optimize, they will be slow and they will sometimes need to be replaced by custom code. All that can lead to low performance and frustration."
There are also 3rd Party driver manufacters that produce ODBC drivers for MongoDB. Progress makes one for example: https://www.progress.com/connectors/mongodb
They have a tutorial video showing getting data from Mongo to Excel. Going into JMP would be similar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1iMyxoNJuU&feature=youtu.be.
Re: NoSQL Mongo DatabaseAccording to Wikipedia ‘NoSQL systems are also sometimes called "Not only SQL" to emphasize that they may support SQL-like query languages’.
The link below gives some hope, but I’m sure more details of the expected usage patterns will be required:
