Importing multiple Excel files that contain multiple tabs

I am working with a customer who has several Excel files that all have the same tabs within.  He is interested in concatenating the data from a single tab ("Data" tab) in the Excel files together.

 

Is the most efficient way to do this using the Excel import wizard?  Multiple File Import is unable to handle spreadsheets with multiple tabs, correct?

Hello Wendy,

 

There are two ways that I'd reccomend to achieve your outcome.

 

First way is to use Open Files menu. And Open each file and then Stack Tables using Tables > Concatenate.

Second more efficient way is to use the Import Multiple Files menu option. And then bring files in altogether in one file using Stack Similar Files option.

Take a look at the Source Script for new Data file Book1_Book5. In the future, you can add new data to the MS Excel files and just hit the Source Script to rerun the import.

 

If you'd like to try, I have both sets of files and project files for the two methods.
