Reference customer stories for wind turbine manufacturingHI Fellow SE´s
We are working with Vestas a wind turbine manufacturer, and they are showing interest in JMP.
Do you know any reference succes stories that we could use to show Vestas. Their area of interest are
- Root cause analysis within blade production
- Using the profiler for enhanced process understading
- Trending in production (SPC, predictive moduling)
- Historical data analysis
Thank you in advance
best Christian
Re: Reference customer stories for wind turbine manufacturingHi Christian,
I hope all is well.
I don't know of any specific reference for turbine production, but we have several data sets where you could show off JMP's capability with data from a production environment. White Polymer (Production) is used heavily for root cause analysis from historical data. Tablet Production is another good data set. These data sets also set up well for predictive modeling and SPC analyses. Happy to walk you through these data sets if that would be helpful.
Best,
Bill
Re: Reference customer stories for wind turbine manufacturingThough I know wind turbine production is bit different we have a Rolls Royce success story I believe. The use case there is slightly different but at least for the warranty part it might be appealing.
In addition for wind turbines there are different aspect of interest. We sold JMP to Leitwind which is also a provider for wind craft wheels. First thinking of the usage , they might be interested in the sensor data they get to understand optimal run scenarios, the performance at the edges of activity (meaning before you have to stop the turbine because of too few wind = low efficiency and too much wind = damage), if the angle setting really provides the best performance, what information can you get from that data to understand failures or shutdowns not related to wind speed or planned maintenance.
Another potential use case is the material mix of carbon and other material and of course the coatings you use . Regarding the turbine itself there are way more things which might be of interest as I can mention here.
From a reliability point of view you should probably mention life distribution using multiple failure modes or using simulated repeated measurements for the whole system. As well text explorer might be of help for the machine log data. Both things might not be of interest for this group or they just did not think about it before.
I have to look for the presentation and the journal later today or latest tomorrow so you can see what I have used to convince them from JMP, though not JMP Pro to that time (version 10) as lack of functionality difference.
MartinRe: Reference customer stories for wind turbine manufacturingHi Christian, Another possibility are the Discovery presentations from GE Power and Water
