Spectral Data Import and Analysis

Hi,

one of my customer from pharmaceutical company is exploring JMP PRO, but they have problem to open the original data that been generated by their equipment

they told me this is spectral data, however in special data type "PKCS #7 Certificates" which i have no idea at all

Guessing the special type of file should able to be read into JMP via JSL or some other addin or ....

trying to attach the dummy file got from customer "Dummy Spectral data 280819.spc" but always with upload error: the contents of the attachement doesn't match its file type

Kindly seek advice, any suggestion / thought : how to import the data into JMP, what kind of analysis usually perform, any relavent information etc..

Pin sent me the file directly, and it's this type. As stated there, it's a proprietory binary file, so reading it directly into JMP would be non-trivial. Wikipedia tells me that there is Python code to read the file, so using the JMP-Python interface may provide the path of least resistance. It might be worth the effort since I believe this is something of a standard for spectroscopic data . . .

Searching for 'PKCS #7 Certificates' lead me to things like this, which are (probably . . . ) not relevant. To get useful help someone would need to try loading your '.spc' file into JMP. Try changing the file extension to one that will be accepted, perhaps '.jsl'.

Regarding analysis, I feel obliged to mention this book (which could use an update). I'm sure they would be familiar with the methods therein. Of course there are other options too, including perhaps FDE.

@PIN Curious if you had any luck with the Python code. I have a customer who just sent me a similar question. But his file is a .spa

"The instrument I’m using (ThermoFisher NIR (near Infrared) Spectral Analyzer) outputs the spectral data file in a .spa file format, which I have not been able to get JMP to read it. I think .spa is TF’s native (and proprietary?) file format, which is unfortunate, if true.

Do you know if any of your clients, especially those in pharmaceuticals is using TF spectral analyzers and whether they have been successful in using JMP to analyze the data from the .spa files?"
