I'm currently making a jmp application that first prompts the user asking them what data they would like. Then after they hit "OK" it opens a JMP data table that has data specific to their query. Now I want to make a dashboard of graphs and filters that automatically opens afterward using that data specific to their query. I am still very new to JMP and JSL so I would really like to use graph builder to make these graphs and then embed them into Application Builder so I can easily format all the containers. However, I don't know how to embed a report in an application that uses the new data that is created.
I have tried 2 things and I can't solve the issue.
1. I tried dragging a report made with Graph Builder into the Application Builder, but I can't change the report's data each time the dashboard opens.
2. I tried scripting the Graph Builder function in the application module and it worked, but I would really like for the graph to show visually in my Application Builder so I can format my containers in the builder.
Does anyone know the answer to either of these questions?
1.Is there any way to drag a report into the application builder then change the data source each time the application is run?
2.Is there any way to embed a graph builder function/graph into a graph box in application builder?
This question might be very confusing, but it's hard for me to show this issue with screenshots. Please let me know if you need any clarifications. Thanks!
Hi @BenLu,
I could be wrong, but I don't think you can have the Graph Builder platform object in the drag and drop workspace without an associated data table for context. Someone may have a slick way to do it with a placeholder data table, but I don't think it's worth the hassle. Whenever I have needed to do something similar to what you're describing, I have usually just appended the platform objects to existing container boxes.
For example, if I might add a graph builder to an existing V List Box named "VList1." In the script for that module, I would have some code like:
VList1 << Append(
Platform(dt,
Graph Builder(
<GRAPH builder="" script="" contents="">
)
)
)</GRAPH>
You have to run the app to see if the result matches what you want as far as layout, but it's really not that bad.
