Sampling with query builder doesn't work as expectedHas anybody run into issues with sampling from Query builder? I have a customer who is interested in this capability and I was putting together an example to show them. I'm using SQL Server 2014 Express for my database and I'm getting weird results. I asked for 10% sample and get zero rows. I asked for 30 random rows and I get the entire table. I asked for random 10 rows and I get zero rows. I'm doing all this on Big_Class which is a small table with only 40 rows, maybe that is my problem? Looks to me that the problem is with SQL Server 2014 Express because I can see the SQL code and it looks OK
Re: Sampling with query builder doesn't work as expectedThere is a threshold for this to work. This is from Tonya Mauldin in testing from a similar report that Chris Kirchberg had a few weeks ago through the beta list:
"I tried this with SQLServer, actually this is not a JMP problem that run the query script “SELECT * FROM [SQBTest].[Big_Class]TABLESAMPLE(25 PERCENT)”within SQLServer Management Studio, it either returns empty table or returns the table with all the rows, I guess this is because the total row number of big class is too little (40 rows) to use the sampling. If we use a table with more rows, say 10000+ rows, the returned sample result would not be empty and reasonable. “
