Generalized linear models are often classified as a set of "Advanced" statistical topics. However, GLMs are easy to use and are as interpetable as ordinary least squares models. GLMs offer a robust set of solutions to problems where the response is highly skewed, where the response is naturally restricted (e.g. proportion between 0 and 1), and where the variance increases the the mean.
