Volker:
Marcello: I accessed the User Community several times and also asked a question actually. I find it very useful and I count on using it in the future to share resources and most likely to ask questions!
Peter Goos: Hi Volker,
I had a look some time ago, and checked again today. Today, the site had more contents. Actually, there are interesting things like data sets and things called “collections”. The material definitely is useful for teachers.
The page may be overwhelming, and finding the information you want might become difficult as more and more content is added.
I didn’t check everything in detail, but right now the focus is on really simple things. Little regression, certainly no categorical dependent variables, … DOE, SPC, …
I might lack energy and time to contribute myself, although I will most likely consult the website regularly. I should also inform my teaching assistants about the website and the resources it provides.
I can imagine that the Goos-Meintrup book(s) is (are) mentioned on that website at some point in time

PS A technical quibble concerning a contribution of Mia on CI for proportion: The formula in the pdf for the CI is not what JMP uses. It is what most people teach, but JMP uses a more involved/better interval (if I am not mistaken)
David Meintrup: …
Marcus Sundbom: … I have not yet fully explored the site but I think the JMP Academic User Community looks very promising.
The academic resources center is great with its easy access to different kinds of documents etc. Currently, one can download the pdf’s without logging in which is good. The requirement to create an account for participating may be perceived as an obstacle for some students.
The challenge is to attract traffic to the student learning room.
Some ideas:
- Optional login with other popular web services (like facebook)
- Group or Class login: teacher may prepare accounts for her students and perhaps use the community as a tool in teaching and communicating with students.
- Cross-posting of student/teaching oriented discussions from other JMP (or SAS) communities.
