Date-Time Format Problem

Question

Help please. I have a large data with a column for DOB that is formatted as "mm/dd/yy" but is defined as "character" format and when I try to change it to the correct "nominal""date" format the year is way wrong. So for example "12/23/69" comes back as "12/23/2069" and so on.

Any suggestions? Thank you
