2018 Mastering & Adv. Mastering SuggestionsAs you are discussing issues with each other or uncovering customer needs for assistance worldwide, please post your ideas for new Mastering or Advanced Mastering webcasts here.
- In 2017 we discontinued Specifying and Fitting Models.(Bill W. saw a need for and created as session on Generalized Regression instead.) If you think Specifying and Fitting models should be reinstated, let me know. Perhaps with new data, not Mould Mat. Maybe housing or Bank Revenue from Building Better Models? Here is what we have on demand: https://www.jmp.com/en_us/events/ondemand/mastering-jmp/specifying-and-fitting-models.html
- Mary L. and Peter H. suggest Shaping Data to Answer
or 4 types of business> Questions. The purpose would be to explain how to shape data in preparation for the type of answers you are seeking.
2018 JMP C suggestions from Chris KirchbergJMP C Suggestions from Chris K.
Spring of 2018 there will be a new version of JMP Clinical. I expect there may be a new topic based on some new reports that will be added, but not completely sure yet since the feature set has not been completely defined or developed enough for me to know how much time will be needed.
The interface will not change for the current Webcasts we have as far as I can tell so we don’t have to repeat them. The one I think that may need to be run again is the patient narratives. I think there will be enough changes/option that will increase the value of re-doing. But won’t know until late this year or beginning of next year.
JMP Genomics might be good for Selective Breeding and Biomarker Discovery based Webcasts.
From Tom Donnelly 8/17 Re: 2018 Mastering & Adv. Mastering SuggestionsComparing Designs - comparing designs within categories, like screening, for several categories. Tom gave the presentation at MORES in June 2017 and at another conference in April.
Re: 2018 Mastering & Adv. Mastering Suggestions3 suggestions from Mary Loveless, titles TBD (we welcome you title suggestions):
Extending The Reach and Value of JMP Visualization - Deep dive into platforms such as Distribution, Variability Charts to show all the options. TBD - case study or studies that will highlight the value.
Optimizing the Predictability and Desirability of Your Models - All the skinny about the Prediction Profiler. TBD - case study that will highlight value. Would be nice to have a financial study.
Graph Builder 201 - Tapping the Full Potential of Graph Builder Visualization and Analytics - demystifying Graph Builder and all its options. TBD - Case studies. May be 2 sessions. Jordan has done 4 case studies but still only had time for scratch the surface.
Re: 2018 Mastering & Adv. Mastering SuggestionsNot sure how large of an audience this would appeal to. I've done bits and pieces in the past. Probably could be combined with other DOE constraint type "tricks" (e.g., constraining proportions of mixtures) or maybe a "beyond basic DOE" that deals with non standard design conditions.
Re: 2018 Mastering & Adv. Mastering SuggestionsFrom Stephen Clark (crohut) 8/15/2017 at SABIC Houston:
DOE with Constrained Design Space.
In particular, how to utilize, in the DOE Custom Design system, the three options regarding DEFINE FACTOR CONTSTRAINTS (specify linear constraint, use disallowed combinations filter, and use disallowed combinations script).
For example, a project that I am currently working on involves two factors (both continuous). The constraint is that there must be one or both present. In other words, zero amount of each is not a feasible combination. If both factors are on a 0 to 5 scale, then what I’m really trying to do is to make sure that if one of the factors is zero, then the other must be either 2.5 or 5. A value of 0.1 (while technically not zero) would not be a good option.
Re: 2018 Mastering & Adv. Mastering SuggestionsPeter Hersh also suggested that we categorize the live sessions somewhere so people can get a list by interest area. I will try to address this either this year or 2018. Peter wrote:
It would be cool if we could give people a list of all the mastering and advanced mastering webcasts on a certain topic and allow them to sign up. Like here are the 5 webcasts on modeling this year you can pick which ones you want to view. Not sure if that is possible or not, but would be useful if it is possible.
Re: 2018 Mastering & Adv. Mastering SuggestionsHi Gail
I certainly can prepare this for mjmp, I show parts of it already to customers if they have such troubles. Since I have put everything together we could easily use the material also for European webcasts. And of course I'm happy to stay up late to make it convenient for the west coast too
Alternatively I could do this before kickoff , traveling in a bit earlier. But I'm very fine to do it from Europe, too.Re: 2018 Mastering & Adv. Mastering SuggestionsHi Martin,
Do you do this for customers as Mastering and, if so, are you willing to do it live once for US folks so I can record it?
Re: 2018 Mastering & Adv. Mastering SuggestionsHi Gail,
I think a session about not easy to import data structures, and challenging topics as dates. One could show
- csv/txt files where you have semicolon instead of comma as seperator (quite often in Europe, default in JMP is comma),
- xlsx files with typical excel user structure not easy to be used for analysis (formula in cells, text & numbers in one column, ...)
- date formats which are non typical and where Bradys data table add-in could be of help
- localization issues where numeric data will be importat as character because of decimal/comma seperation (there my scripts could be of help (Substitute-Decimal2Comma or Substitute-Comma2Decimal)
Those questions I often get from customers who start with JMP using their own data instead of nice sample data.
Martin
Re: 2018 Mastering & Adv. Mastering SuggestionsCertainly. If you want to do it sometime 4Q I can add it before the next email blast. If you agree, will send me updated description, please? I don't have the past description for the live event, but here is info to start with:

Re: 2018 Mastering & Adv. Mastering SuggestionsGail,
JMP Pro 13 adds seven new covariance structures (Unequal Variances, Exchangeable, Antedependent, Toeplitz, etc.), so I was thinking of updating my 2014 mixed model webcast by focusing on the analysis of repeated measures data using these alternative structures.
