Automatic access to a database with a password?Hi,
A potential customer is playing with the Query Builder and access to his database.
everything seems to work fine but he has to provide the password.
Does he have to provide it each time?
or is it save in the query?
Can he choose if he wants to provide it or not?
the final goal is to automatize the access so have reporting (JMP Live reports???) daily. So the password needs to be incorporated in the workflow. Will it work? Will it be encrypted so nobody can read it?
Thank you for your reply. I do not have database with password to do the try.

Re: Automatic access to a database with a password?Hi Florence,
if he saves the query script the username and password will be there as well. to prevent this you can use the JSL command:
"There is a JSL-only preference called ODBC Hide Connection String that can be set to prevent including this possibly sensitive information. See the Extending JMP chapter in the Scripting Guide for more details." (from the Using JMP PDF Guide).
If you set up the database on your machine with a network login, usually you do not need to type in the command again. However if you choose to use login information you probably need to retype every time again. Though I'm not fully sure if this information can also be saved in the query to avoid typing in this information.
