<< Show() - long time to evaluate

When evaluating jmp script Show() the output on bottom of screen is delayed by 10 minutes or more.
Never got output for the following scripts. Trying to put in a script a filter to only highlight the rows with today's date.

dt_E = Today() << Show(dt_E); 
dt_date = Today(); 
date = Abbrev Date(dt_date); 
<< Show(date);
