Scripted Platform: Report only displays when exec'd from editor

 Hello.

 

I have scripted the Distribution platform and run it directly from a folder ('//!' on first line).

When the script is ran from the folder, the Distribution report runs but does not display. When ran form the JSL editor, the report displays as expected.

 

What is required for the report to display when running directly from the folder?

You can also move the report to a journal which will allow for the data table to be closed but will keep the report available.

Problem solved. I was closing DT later in the script. I'm a JMP newbie and thought the report would remain open. I now know that the report closes along with the table and that DT can be hidden instead (doing this now).

 

Still, it is funny that the report *does* stay open sometimes. Some sort of race condition must be happening.

I doubt if JMP is unstable in this instance.  Not finding a framebox, or a scalebox is symptomatic of the columns being passed to the platform not being found, of the data within the columns not being able to be used to generate the requested output. Such as all of the data being missing.  Typically one has to find out such issues, and then code around the issues.

I should mention that I'm using JMP 11.

 

The behavior is flaky. Even when running script from editor, it will sometimes display the Distribution analysis and other times not. JMP will also display the Distribution analysis even though these errors are reported:

 

Cannot find ScaleBox[ "5" ] at {}
Cannot find FrameBox[ "Distrib Quantile Plot" ] at {}

 

I am in test mode so a single file is being used and the same column is accessed each time.

 

Are later versions of JMP more stable?

I added the ability to view the log during script execution:

 

Cannot find ScaleBox[ "5" ] at {}
Cannot find FrameBox[ "Distrib Quantile Plot" ] at {}

Scalebox and FrameBox are somehow not visible to the non-interactive version of the script.

The Distribution Report should show up without change.  Look into the log for the session, and check for any messages or errors.
