Sankey diagrams in JMPI've had a couple customer requests for Sankey style flow diagrams, and I wanted to share a mock-up for creating such a diagram in JMP. It uses the Line element in Graph Builder similar to the Napoleon's March example graph. DT attached.
This was a quickly done example. The X/Y positions were created by hand but could be done automatically by an add-in if anyone is interested.
In the future, we'd like to extend Parallel Plot to support shaded regions for categorical variables.

Re: Sankey diagrams in JMPThe most recent request was from for visualizing supply chains. Excerpt:
I received a request from someone working on supply chains and was asked if JMP could produce Sankey diagrams. We are doing a lot of work in this area but as of now I don’t believe JMP is used very much for these types of problems. I thought there might be some mutual interest from other customers for these types of graphs.
Here’s a lo-res version of his diagram, in case the labels are secret.

Re: Sankey diagrams in JMP<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />Xan,
This is a very nice graph style, thanks for he example. The data structure for the graph would have be complex to work out.
What were the customers using the graph for? (Which industries and what were the applications, what problem were they trying to solve with this graph?)
Thanks!,
