If you've ever wanted to move your first row of data up to the Column Headers or make other edits to JMP Columns watch this video to learn quickly how to improve your work flow in JMP.
Recently I was importing some Olympic internet data into JMP. For those that haven't imported data from the web you can use File, then Internet Open.
I pasted my URL in, and then selected a database on available on that web page and it appears in JMP.
However, there's some formatting issues, in this case I want my first row of data to be my Column names.
So there's 2 ways we can tackle this, maybe you know another, please share yours below this video.
The first way is copy and pasting.
I select my first row of data, then I'll select the row number on right, it grabs all of those row cells.
Then I re-selected the columns shown vertically in the Column panel, and paste them over with a right-click paste.
My second method is to install the Column Name Utility Add-In available in the JMP community file exchange.
Head over to jmp.com forward slash adding file exchange as one word.
Locate the Add-In section, then search for the "Column Name Utility" and get the add in installed.
Once downloaded double click and install it into JMP.
In JMP, select Install, You'll now see a Add-In Menu option if this is your first Add-In.
Select the last Data Table from the options.
So again I want to move up my 1st row of data to my Column Names.
While in your data table or the one I have open, select the first row of data, then drop down from the Add-In menu and select Column Name then select Move Up.
So, that's a couple ways you edit multiple Column names at once and even install a JMP Add-In if you .
Enjoy using JMP.
