open initial distribution platform window without entries

I want to open any platform window where one could select columns and drag them into roles. For the simple case of distribution I could do something like

mydist = distribution();

This opens the window but the mydist object is empty and I cannot access any of the entries there afterwards.

Why? I'd like to have the Show Filter of the hotspot option on by default when opening the distribution platform or any other platform. But I do not want to recreate the whole platform window, just use the default one.

I couldn't find any option for this in the preference settings nor any community thread. May this is also an enhancement for the preference settings to have this filter option open by default.
