Dashboard Builder Alert - Difference between JMP 13 and JMP 14Someone watching the Mastering session on Dashboards, which I recorded when Olivia did it using JMP 13, found something that did not work, and reported it to Tech Support, Wendy Murphrey.
I added this note to the on-demand Dashboard webcast page in August.
NOTE: In JMP 14, it is not possible to add a tab to the Dashboard by dropping it into the Dashboard zone in the upper right corner, as shown at approximately 27:03 in this video.
Jerry Fish also uncovered the issue when doing the Dashboard session live using JMP 14.0. He mentioned that some other SEs had also had similar problems.
Dan Schikore explained that the Developers want Dashboard Builder and the Live Dashboard to be in sync. The basic issue is that running Dashboards allow certain types of drag-and-drop to arrange reports. Dashboard Builder was more flexible in what it allowed, but that meant that after building and running the Dashboard, it may not work as intended. So, the ability to add a tab as described was removed in JMP 14. If Dan S. and team uncover any other issues, he will alert me and I will let you know.
Here is the original defect.
Re: Dashboard Builder Alert - Difference between JMP 13 and JMP 14To clarify, what you cannot do in JMP 14 is to Tab a report at the top-level "Dashboard" header. In a running Dashboard, the top-level header is not a draggable component, while each report is draggable. It is still possible to tab a report with another report, but all of the draggable components should appear under the "Dashboard" header.
There are a few other changes associated with this Defect. One thing that you can do in the builder environment that you cannot do in a running Dashboard is to drag multiple reports at once, by clicking on the Splitter or Tab List that contains them. In this case tabbing will also be turned off, because Dashboards have only a single report per tab.
The filter use-case that you mention is the 3rd issue that was addressed by this update. We are trying to keep the filter at the top-level of the report.
Re: Dashboard Builder Alert - Difference between JMP 13 and JMP 14Thanks Mike. I will let Dan S. know.
Re: Dashboard Builder Alert - Difference between JMP 13 and JMP 14... I just checked it and you still can... It's a little fiddly, but it still works. I've done it live in front of customers in 14, 14.1, and 14.2. The only time I've found that this doesn't work is when the report your trying to add to a tab has a local data filter.
