DISCOVERY SUMMIT NAMING CONVENTION
23JUNE2020: Note significant changes to deal with Covid implications
Let's call each event a Discovery Summit, as part of the Discovery Summit series.
Let’s distinguish one from another by including the region the event is intended for. The regions will not be parallel (some will be countries, some continents, some cities) but that will have to be ok until we get past this.
LOGOS
Region and year should be included in the logo when they’re relevant. They go on top of it, centered. Example:
SHANGHAI 2020
When we need the tag line to better explain the conference, it should run on two lines centered below the logo:
EXPLORING DATA
INSPIRING INNOVATION
When the event is online – or for online components of a hybrid event – the logo will have an “online” violator put on it.
For the in-person parts of Shanghai…
SHANGHAI 2020
DISCOVERY
SUMMIT
For the online parts of Shanghai…
For all of Americas (what used to be “Cary”)…
For Japan…
For Europe…
IN PROSE
In prose, we have flexibility in how we write it and which words we use to describe it. I don’t think “Online” should ever be an official part of the title, because that gets messy. So we can work the elements in as needed.
The proper names of the events:
- Discovery Summit Shanghai 2020
- Discovery Summit Americas 2020
- Discovery Summit Japan 2020
- Discovery Summit Europe 2021
Other ways we can work more details into prose:
- We hope you will attend the 2020 Discovery Summit in Shanghai.
- In 2020, Discovery Summit Americas will be completely online.
- Discovery Summit Japan is targeted to all Japanese speakers who are interested in analytics.
COLOR CODING
Let’s keep the color coding: red in China, green in Japan, orange in Americas, blue across Europe, and add gold for South Korea when we get there.
