Accessing Realtime Sensor Directly via USB

There were a number of examples where JMP analyses sensor data (using FDE) successfully but I'm looking for an example where the data is collated directly into JMP and not via a db/spreadsheet etc.
E.g. a temperature sensor connected via USB.

Has this been done or any ideas if this is possible?
